Manchester United midfielder completes Derby move

Derby County have completed the loan signing of Manchester United midfielder David Jones. The 22-year-old joins with a view to a permanent move.

Derby manager Billy Davies told his club's official website: "David has great ability, a super left-foot and boasts a range of passing.

"I see him as a good old-fashioned midfielder.

"He's a creator and scorer of goals and can only get better.

"In fact, I believe he has the skill to shine on the international stage and will eventually turn out for his country."

He added: "He had a successful few months with me at Deepdale [on loan Preston North End] and put in some wonderful displays before his loan move to Holland.

"He became a firm fans' favourite and I'm sure that will prove to be the case again during his time with Derby County."
